Purpose and Vision

Farmwave is an advanced AI-driven solution designed to optimize agricultural efficiency by reducing harvest loss.

Key Features

• Harvest Vision System: This core feature uses camera sensors placed on farm machinery to capture images in real-time. The system autonomously monitors grain loss during harvesting, eliminating the need for manual checks like hand counts or drop pans. It helps farmers track losses and adjust equipment on the go, potentially increasing yield by 3-8 bushels per acre​.

• Edge AI: Farmwave operates using rugged tablets that run AI algorithms directly on the farm without requiring constant internet connectivity. This enables real-time analysis of harvest data, even in areas with poor network coverage.

• Customizable AI for Multiple Applications: Beyond harvest loss monitoring, Farmwave integrates with various agricultural tools, including sprayers and transplant machines. It measures parameters such as droplet size, plant growth stages, and crop health, offering versatility across different farming needs.

• Data Reporting and Integration: After each session, Farmwave generates detailed reports, summarizing field data. This can be exported in multiple formats, allowing integration with other software for deeper analysis.

These features help improve operational efficiency and reduce waste in farming operations.

Development Process

We designed the backend of the application using Node.js on Google Cloud Platform (GCP), ensuring a robust framework that guarantees scalability, security, and seamless cloud integration. This setup allows for dynamic data handling and effective resource management, catering to high traffic demands.

For the web interface, we implemented React.js, which provides a fast and responsive user experience. Its server-side rendering capabilities enhance load times, ensuring users can navigate the application efficiently and intuitively.

The tablet application was developed with Flutter, enabling us to deliver a cohesive and optimized experience all platforms. This approach leverages Flutter’s cross-platform capabilities, allowing us to utilize native features while maintaining a consistent look and feel, resulting in an intuitive user experience regardless of the device used.
